Perpetual Pity Party

You can attempt to offer a friend

a helping hand or sage advise

but when it becomes a continual saga

you must then stop and think twice

There are those who find their comfort zone

in misery and grief

You can attempt to draw them out

but you may be left with disbelief

If it is their own desire

to stay enveloped in their doom

to walk away is hard and sad

but you must save yourself from their gloom

The arguments will be forthcoming

they will fight you tooth and nail

the truth they do not want to hear

another colossal fail

  1. This poem is a perfect description of what ails a lot of people’s friendships, when one person is giving more than the other. There are simply some people who are so used to being negative that it’s almost impossible to be there for them, they will just suck your energy out and leave you with nothing. Wonderful portrait of a very sad situation, thanks for writing it. 🙂

    • Thank you for reading my poem! It has taken me many many months to realize that a person will not change unless THEY want to. I have thrown a few pity parties myself, so I am certainly not a novice to this problem, lol!
