Sardonic Critics

The pebble is cast across the water

the ripple effect has begun

the cluster of invisible vultures

hovering in wait

 

Like minded malcontents

the internet is their scapegoat

to thrust their malice and angst

upon anonymous victims

 

They hide behind their keyboards

typing with furry and angst

circling the next story

positioning their barbs

 

Reeking havoc with every comment

arguing and exploiting

causing chaos with the masses

soliciting much needed attention

 

The trolls pollute the media

Critiquing and distorting

for fun and or hobby

leaving a stench of negativity

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mirror

She is a salacious dash of sultry

flighty and flamboyant

perpetually in motion

yet flying aimlessly

never wanting to touch ground

 

Groping and grasping

clawing at the wind

pretending to take it all in

even when her breath

feels like it is her last

The Stifling Effect

Critiquing ones words

examining its content

overanalyzing the effects

 

Political correctness abounds

the masses are taking heed

imprisoning the mind by silencing

So Sumptuous

You were so sumptuous to me

Those hazel eyes piercing your subject

with a fire

that only you could understand

 

I would have covered many miles

just to hold you 

and whisper in your ear

sweet secrets about us

 

Your insecurities consumed you

and along came the black widow

and you allowed her

to crash our private party

after those eight legs inserted herself

into a special private place

that was reserved for you and I

 

She was clever and poisonous

you made it so easy

as you wore your fears

on your sleeve

 

Her own life 

she lost control of many years ago

her new role

was to take control of yours

 

Trickery was her forte

she relished in it

teaching you to hurt me

was too easy a task

 

You were too weak to fight her

she fed you 

and her meal

was too delicious for you to resist

 

There you are 

alone with your spider

and here I am 

waiting for a real man

 

 

 

 

Walking on Egg Shells

I grew ever so weary

of tiptoeing around you

day to day living

became exhausting at best

 

Polite indifference sustained me

numbness engulfed my inner and outer self

all feelings for you

diminished day by day

 

When one does not know what may trigger a storm

the helplessness is palpable

I spent too many years

watching and guarding myself from impending disaster

 

Last night was cathartic

I realize that there are those who understand

I invited them into my madness

their protection has empowered me

 

 

 

Tunnel Vision

How could you preach of God

while you were rotating the knife

were you looking for absolution

or a hypocritical high

 

My eyes see into you

and through you

anyone who challenges you

becomes your scapegoat

 

You love to speak of your emotional scars

yet you deliberately omit

that your delusions

continually picked the scabs

 

Tunnel vision can be suffocating

when you heed not the feelings of others

or the effects of your own actions

you will continually be a lonely outsider

The Hen House

You took my private words

and shared them with others

Chewing me up and spitting me out

in front of your public arena

 

I never shared your secrets or thoughts

and you gave me so much ammunition

retaliation to your betrayal

would surely chip away at my soul

 

Being true to myself

is not always an easy task

but paying you back in kind

goes against my conscience

Her vanity ran deep

the haughtiness of her approach

she delighted in the delusions

that she created in her mind

 

The only care she indulged in 

was in her appearance

every hair in place

every wrinkle erased

 

She never did marry

no single man could measure up

men were interchangable

like her designer underwear

Perpetual Pity Party

You can attempt to offer a friend

a helping hand or sage advise

but when it becomes a continual saga

you must then stop and think twice

 

There are those who find their comfort zone

in misery and grief

You can attempt to draw them out

but you may be left with disbelief

 

If it is their own desire

to stay enveloped in their doom

to walk away is hard and sad

but you must save yourself from their gloom

 

The arguments will be forthcoming

they will fight you tooth and nail

the truth they do not want to hear

another colossal fail
